A robotic boat with a propeller constructed from liquid magnets may very well be a safer different than strong steel blades, which can damage wildlife.

Jun Shintake on the College of Electro-Communications in Chōfu, Japan, and his colleagues created a prototype aquatic craft with a propeller constructed from ferrofluid, which consists of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles suspended in oil.
