Zimbabwe authorities says the nation has recorded its highest tobacco manufacturing in its historical past.
This was introduced by Appearing Minister of Data, Publicity and Broadcasting Companies Jenfan Muswere.
“The nation’s tobacco output within the ongoing 2023 advertising and marketing season at the moment stands at 261 million kgs, surpassing the earlier report of 259 million kgs,” he mentioned.
“That is on the backdrop of the truth that 85% of the tobacco is being produced by smallholder farmers, 60% of whom are beneficiaries of the Land Reform Program, demonstrating that Authorities insurance policies within the agriculture sector are sound and proceed to bear fruit,” he continued.
Zimbabwe, the most important producer of tobacco in Africa and sixth globally, is trying to flip tobacco farming right into a $5bn trade by 2025.
