Re: “Shrink foster care safely with investment in social safety net” [May 23, Opinion]: The editorial on foster care jogged my memory of my first analysis undertaking into the topic within the late Seventies.
I used to be a brand new younger school member in a brand new social work graduate program at Japanese Washington College. After a questionnaire, we met with the foster care social staff to get their ideas on our undertaking. Your editorial brings again just one line from that assembly. A social employee stated, “We all know greater than we will do.”
The gaps in service — secure housing, cash for meals, well being, substance abuse and different supporting companies — live on. Will we ever muster the desire to fund the most important structural modifications essential to fill these gaps?
