Cultural center hopes Black Santa will bring representation for kids

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Aiken’s Middle for African American Historical past, Artwork, and Tradition will host a Black Santa this vacation season.

Govt Director Juanita Campbell says when African American youngsters see a conventional White Santa, it’s exhausting for these youngsters to imagine that Santa is one thing for them.

“To see a Santa Claus that’s African American, like them or the identical shade as them, permits them that reinforcement within the perception that he’s truly visiting them and bringing presents,” she mentioned.

Santa shall be visiting on Dec. 20 from 6 p.m. to eight p.m. They’ll have cookie adorning, and Santa can even learn a narrative. It’s free and open to the general public.
