The Montreal Canadiens‘ quarter-century group was unveiled by the NHL on Sunday, that includes the historic franchise’s finest gamers from 2000 to the current day.
The primary group consists of forwards Saku Koivu, Tomas Plekanec and Alex Kovalev, defencemen Shea Weber and Andrei Markov, and goaltender Carey Value.
The second group options forwards Nick Suzuki, Brendan Gallagher and Max Pacioretty, defencemen Sheldon Souray and P.Ok. Subban, and goaltender Jose Theodore.
Media members, retired NHLers and membership executives weighed in on the choice, with every group comprising of three forwards, two defencemen, and one goaltender, for 12 gamers whole.
The league-wide initiative was launched in December with the purpose of highlighting the most effective gamers from every franchise over the previous 25 years (or quarter century).
Value holds the Canadiens’ franchise document for many wins by a goalie with 361, surpassing greats like Jaques Plante (314), Patrick Roy (289) and Ken Dryden (258).
Koivu, the Canadiens’ former captain for 10 years, cracks the franchise’s high 10 in whole factors (641), assists (450) and power-play objectives (66).
Plekanec, who performed 15 years with the Canadiens from 2003 to 2019, ranks seventh on the all-time video games performed checklist (984).
The second group consists of three energetic gamers with Suzuki, Gallagher and Pacioretty, although solely Suzuki and Gallagher stay on the Canadiens at current.
