Skinny strips of a clear gel have been discovered to crack impossibly rapidly.

“What we discovered was a complete shock. This simply isn’t presupposed to occur,” says Jay Fineberg on the Hebrew College of Jerusalem in Israel who led the crew that noticed the record-breaking cracks. The discovering might enhance our understanding of some earthquakes and the way brittle supplies break.
